Day 6. 2001–2005: Windows XP

Windows XP interface

     Windows XP was released on 2001, October  25. Windows XP was quiet different than the older operating system. Windows XP is not design for any particular group of user, it comes with 25 languages, and it offers Home Edition for the at home users, Busnies Edition for the busines user, and finally the Professional Edition for the serious computer users. From the release of MS-DOS upon till the release of Windows XP, about 1 billion Windows computer has been sold. Windows XP is one of the best selling product for Microsoft because it is very fast and stable. It offers a good protection against viruses and hackers. An interesting fact is that windows XP is still the most widely used computer operating system, about 45 percent of the computer still uses windows XP and about 87% of the user use any type of Microsoft operating system. At 2007, Windows XP was at it's peak, about 76 percent of the user uses XP.

Disk Check After XP Crashes

 
     I remember I was using Windows XP for the longest time, I used from it is release till Windows 7 was released. One thing that I do not like about XP is that it crashes a lot, I have to force to shut down some program a lot of the time, and  it would ask you to check your disk .Otherwise personally I like Windows XP, I would say it is my favorite operating system and the one that I am most familiar with. I will still recommend XP for the older computer.

Advantage of Windows XP:

1. Support most of the hardware.
2.Pretty good graphic interface compare with older system.
3.Many applications are design only for Windows.
4.Very friendly to the user, easy to learn.

Disadvantage of Windows XP:

1.Even know it offers good protection from viruses and hacks, you can still get hack or virus just by surfing the Internet very easy.
2.The retail price is expensive.
3.Many bugs and crashes often.
